Mayaguez – The Department of Justice presented 25 charges in absentia for attempted murder and violation of the Arms Law against five individuals, who were arrested this Wednesday.
The incident for which he is accused occurred on December 30, 2020 at the Sábalos de Mayagüez residential complex.
The investigation shows that the injured Christian de Jesús García Rivera, 29, was surprised by Jefred Irizarry Ortiz, 30, who attacked him in the head, both of them falling to the ground.
The injured party tried to defend himself and immediately afterwards, Irizarry Ortiz leaves the scene. Hours later, while the injured party was in his apartment in the Sábalos residential area, 27-year-old Hustine Irizarry Ortiz, 19-year-old Jeremy Ramos Agosta, 45-year-old Carlos García Bonet and 44-year-old Ovidio Ortiz Cruz arrive, carrying long weapons. who aim at him, and make several shots into the air.
The defendant Irizarry Ortíz is awaiting a trial for murder and violation of the Arms Law. This is currently in the free community for a writ of habeas corpus. On the other hand, the defendant Hustine Irizarry Ortiz is on bail and awaiting trial in a case of domestic violence and violation of the Gun Law.
As a result of an operation in Mayagüez to arrest the attackers, bail was set for a total of $ 2,650,000.

Jefred Irizarry Ortiz was charged in absentia for Article 93 Attempted Assassination; a charge for Article 177 Threats; one charge for violation of Article 6.05 Unlicensed Carrying, Transportation or Use of Firearms; one charge for Article 6.14 Shooting or Aiming Firearms; and a charge for Article 6.22 Manufacture, Distribution, Possession and Use of Ammunition; Ammunition Import.
While Hustine D. Irizarry Ortiz, Jeremy Ramos Agosta, Carlos A. García Bonet and Ovidio Ortiz Cruz each filed three charges in absentia for violation of Article 6.09 Carrying, Possession or Illegal Use of Semi-automatic, Automatic Long Arms or Shotgun. Cut Cannon; one charge for violation of Article 6.14 and one charge for Article 6.22 of the Weapons Law.
As a result of the operation carried out this morning, the agents obtained the arrest of all the accused.
