378 Police officers quarantined by the pandemic

The commissioner of the Puerto Rico Police Bureau (NPPR), Henry Escalera Rivera, offered this Wednesday updated data on COVID-19 in the barracks and agency personnel.

At the moment, three barracks and / or work units are closed as a preventive measure. These are: Finance Division, Las Piedras District and Office of Administrative Investigations of the Caguas Area.

In written statements, Escalera Rivera said that there are 378 isolated agents as a preventive measure. Since the emergency arose, 3,296 agents have been reinstated in their duties. 136 agents have currently reported positive results for COVID-19, according to tests ordered and certified by Dr. María Del Carmen Calderón.

Agents assigned to neighboring barracks have been appointed to those affected to reinforce preventive patrolling and deal with complaints that are reported. In all barracks and closed units a decontamination and deep cleaning process is carried out. The opening of the facilities will be announced shortly, according to the recommendation of the medical staff.
