
PONCE – A fatal motorboat crash occurred at around 2:05 am on Sunday, on the PR-2 highway, kilometer 229.1, in Ponce, the police revealed.
Agent Jobannie Meléndez, attached to the Ponce Patrols and Highways Division, reported that Luis Cortés, 38, a Ponce resident, was driving a Honda-brand motorboat, model XR, on the PR-2 highway and upon reaching kilometer 229.1, at the Aloft Hotel in Ponce, he hit a dog crossing the taxiway.
Cortés fell to the pavement and was seriously injured.
The man was transported by paramedics from Ponce Municipal Medical Emergencies to the Damas Hospital, where his death was certified.
Prosecutor Annette Esteves and an agent from the Technical Services Unit documented the scene.
