
The executive director of the Northern Region of the Alcantarillados Aqueduct Authority (AAA), José A. Rivera Ortiz, reported that as of today, preventive maintenance personnel will carry out improvement work at various facilities in the northern area.
Rivera Ortiz explained that flow meters will be being installed to improve stability in the different systems. Today, it will begin at the Tiburones well located in Barceloneta and the Quebrada filter plant in Camuy.
“On Friday, January 22, the works will be in the Mataderos 5 and 9 wells of the Arecibo Urban system. While on Saturday, January 23, work will be done on the Algarrobo de Vega Baja well and the Bajadero de Arecibo well ”, explained the official.
Rivera Ortiz added that these works are part of the preventive maintenance that is provided to each facility. As a result, sectors of Barceloneta, Vega Baja and Arecibo, Hatillo and Camuy could experience from low pressures to intermittence in the drinking water service.
Customers are reminded that, given the possibility of turbidity, once the service is restored, boil the water intended for consumption for a period of three minutes.
