ARECIBO – The executive director of the northern region of the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA), José A. Rivera Ortiz reported that this Tuesday, May 4, the emergency process for improvement works at the Quebradillas filter plant will begin.

“On Wednesday, May 5, the company that will be in charge of the work will be selected. The improvements are aimed at replacing the filters to increase the capacity and production of the service ”, explained the official.

Due to the complexity of the work, these will be extended over the next few weeks.

To mitigate the impact, tanker trucks were coordinated that will be sent to the Emergency Management offices of both municipalities.

Similarly, two oases will be located at the following addresses: PR-453 km 14.1 after Colmado Rodríguez in Quebradillas and on the land located after the Pentecostal Church in Puertos Arriba in Camuy.

The sectors of the municipality of Quebradillas that experience intermittent service and interruption are: Charcas, San Antonio, Palmarito, Margarita, part of Riego and Guajataca.

While in the municipality of Camuy the following sectors are affected: Piedra Gorda, Camuy Arriba, Mandelles, El Calvario, Palo Seco, Cienaga Cibao, Hoyos Brujos and Puertos.

Rivera Ortiz added that, given the possibility of turbidity when the service is restored, it is recommended to boil the water intended for human consumption for three minutes.
