ISABELLA – The Guajataca Filter Plant, which serves sectors of San Sebastián and Isabela, is stopped due to operational problems, reported the director of the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA) in the Aguadilla area, engineer Nelson Saavedra.

The official explained that the subscribers in the Planas de Isabela neighborhood and in San Sebastián the residents of Hoyamala, Aibonito Guerrero, Aibonito Beltrán, Cibao, Guajataca and Robles have water service interruptions.

Saavedra indicated that personnel are working to restore the operation of the system, which has been affected due to the presence of manganese mineral in the raw waters from the Guajataca reservoir.

The engineer stressed that this mineral does not affect health or quality parameters, but it gives color to the water. He added that adjustments are being made in the filtration plant processes to reduce the mineral in the water and drains are carried out in the distribution network.

If there are no problems, the recovery of the water service will be from today Saturday, October 24.

Given the possibility of turbidity, when restoring the service it is recommended to boil the water intended for human consumption for three minutes.
