The director of the Aqueducts and Sewers Authority (AAA) in the Aguadilla area, engineer Nelson Saavedra Barreto, reported that the Culebrinas filter plant is stopped, and Montaña operates in low production, due to high turbidity problems in the pump station raw water (EBAC) from the Culebrinas River.
The official indicated that as a result, subscribers residing in Aguada and Moca have low pressure and interruption of water service.
The Culebrinas River EBAC is a source of raw water for the filtration plants located in Aguadilla. The Montaña filter plant is also supplied by Calero Lake.
A brigade of divers is working on the station’s pumps that were clogged. If there are no problems, the service will begin to reestablish from today afternoon.
The AAA recommends boiling the water for three minutes, given the possibility of turbidity, when resuming the service.
