The Arecibo area director of the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA), Samuel Rosario Vega, reported that the Quebrada filter plant in Camuy continues to be out of operation and the Lares Espino filter plant operates at low capacity.
“AAA personnel continue to work on repairing the failed pump at the Quebrada filter plant to stabilize service recovery. On the other hand, the Lares Espino filter plant operates at a lower capacity due to high turbidity due to the rains and problems with the regulator located in the Brisas tank, ”said the official.
Rosario Vega added that the Lares Urbana filter plant continues to recover after experiencing high turbidity. Both systems are expected to return to normal operation during the afternoon and evening hours today.
As a result, the sectors of the municipality of Lares that experience interruption of the drinking water service are: Piletas, Callejones, urban area, Espino, Miraflores, Río Prieto, La Torre, Los Quemaos, Planel, Sebruquillo, Altamira urbanization, Villa Borinquen urbanization, Palmas Del Sol urbanization, Villa Seral urbanization, Brisas urbanization, Jardines urbanization, Albizu Campos street and Buenos Aires. Likewise, the Perchas, Mirabales and parts of Juncal sectors of the municipality of San Sebastián. On the other hand, the following sectors of Camuy are affected: Quebrada, Cibao, Santiago Péndula, and part of Abra Onda. While the sectors affected in Hatillo are: Bayaney, Berrocal and Aibonito.
Given the possibility of turbidity when the service is restored, it is recommended to boil the water intended for human consumption for three minutes.
