AAA reports service interruption in several municipalities in the northern area | government

The executive director of the North Region of the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA), José A. Rivera Ortiz reported that due to the rains registered in the afternoon today, several facilities are out of operation.

“The filter plants (PF) that are stopped by the clogged dams are: PF Lares Urbana, PF Hatillo / Camuy, PF Las Delicias and PF Pozas in Ciales, PF Canalizo and PF Jayuya Urbano. On the other hand, the Quebrada Arenas pump station in Vega Baja, the PF Mameyes Utuado and PF Frontón in Ciales experience operational problems due to voltage fluctuations ”, explained the official.

Rivera Ortiz added that once the weather conditions allow it, personnel will clean the blocked intakes in the dams. Similarly, when the electrical service stabilizes, the facilities will begin to operate.

As a result, the following municipalities have sectors that experience low pressure and interruption of drinking water service: Hatillo, Camuy, Lares, Utuado, Jayuya, Morovis, Ciales and Vega Baja.

Given the possibility of turbidity when the service is restored, it is recommended to boil the water intended for human consumption for three minutes.
