About 110 police officers are positive for COVID-19 and 658 officers are in quarantine

SAN JUAN – The commissioner of the Puerto Rico Police Bureau (NPPR), Henry Escalera Rivera, offered on Friday updated data on COVID-19 in the barracks and staff of the Bureau.

At the moment, four (4) barracks and / or work units are closed as a preventive measure, these are:

  • Maritime Ceiba
  • Barrio Obrero Precinct
  • San Sebastian Barracks
  • Alcohol and Photometer Unit in Bayamón

In addition, 658 agents are isolated as a preventive measure. Since the emergency arose, 4,548 agents have returned to their duties. 110 agents have currently reported positive results for Covid-19, according to the tests ordered and certified by Dr. María Del Carmen Calderón.

Agents assigned to neighboring barracks have been appointed to those affected to reinforce preventive patrolling and deal with complaints that are reported.

In all barracks and closed units a decontamination and deep cleaning process is carried out.

The opening of the facilities will be announced shortly, according to the recommendation of the medical staff.
