Activate the National Guard to rescue people in the West | PRESENT

The National Guard of Puerto Rico carried out rescue missions for several families in the western part of the Island, due to the intense rains left by the passage of tropical storm Isaías.

As reported by the general assistant to the Puerto Rico National Guard, José Reyes, among the rescued are three children, a three-month-old baby, adults, and several bedridden people.

In the Mayagüez area, the GNPR rescued several families, while in Cabo Rojo they managed to rescue a vehicle that was trapped in the middle of a flood. They also carried out other missions in the municipality of Rincón.

About 335 Soldiers of the Puerto Rico National Guard have been activated to carry out different support missions in a 24-hour period together with other security agencies.

The Assistant General urged citizens to take the necessary precautions while the weather conditions are restored.

He also advised those who live in flood areas to move to safe places or to the nearest shelters to safeguard life.
