SAN JUAN – The adjutant general of the National Guard of Puerto Rico (GNPR), José Reyes, regretted this Monday in a radio interview the incident in which a soldier from that unit was attacked by a tourist at the Luis Muñoz Marín Airport.
“The National Guard, in collaboration with the Department of Health, have already been working and doing medical examinations at the airport (Luis Muñoz Marín International) for over eight months. An extremely regrettable incident. Our boys are fine. They very kindly, as they do with the entire public, asked this Mr. Adrien Williams to put on his mask, for his health and for all those who were there, “Reyes said in an interview on Pegaos en la Mañana on Radio Isla with Julio Rivera Saniel.
“We tend to think that the person was under the influence of alcohol and that will be seen in the investigation. Certainly (Williams) became hostile and attacked one of my boys and our boys defended themselves until they threw him to the ground and were able to contain him until the State Police arrived and they took action on the matter, ”Reyes said.
Williams was arrested on Saturday night after attacking a national guard who works at the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in Carolina, in the process of monitoring visitors to Puerto Rico to comply with security regulations as part of the protocol before The Covid-19 pandemic will be treated six days later, confirmed the Police.
The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, in the arrivals area of Terminal B.
