Agents seized three pistols, ammunition and controlled substances in Ponce

Ponce – As reported by the Police, on September 17, 2020 in the Investigation Chamber of the Ponce Court, charges were filed for articles 6.08 and 6.22 of the Arms Law and 412 of Controlled Substances against Luis F. Peña Castro, 29 years old.

He was arrested in the middle of the execution of a search warrant, issued by Judge Carlos Quiñonez Capacetti and where they seized three firearms, ammunition and controlled substances.

The order was served on September 16 in apartment 97 of building 6 of the José Tormos Diego residential complex in Ponce.

At the time of the order, agents seized three pistols (a Glock, model 22, caliber .40 and a Smith & Wesson, model MP, caliber .40) and a Smith & Wesson brand revolver, caliber 38.

In addition, they occupied four magazines and 34 .40 caliber ammunition. They also seized $ 1,840 in cash and paraphernalia (bags to pack substances) and arrested Luis F. Peña Castro.

This work was carried out by agents Gerardo González and Mario Vargas, under the supervision of Sergeant Alberto Cintrón of the Ponce Division of Drugs and Narcotics.

This case was consulted on September 17 before the prosecutor Sharleen Rosa De Jesús, who instructed to file complaints for the aforementioned articles.

Peña Castro was brought before the presence of Judge Ángel Candelario Cáliz, who determined cause for three charges under article 6.08, one charge against 6.22 of the Weapons Law and one charge under article 4.12 on Controlled Substances (Paraphernalia) and imposed a total bond of $ 25 thousand, which was loaned.

The Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for October 1, 2020, in the Ponce Court.

An indictment is only an indictment and is not evidence of guilt. The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
