AMPR president does not endorse any candidate for governor and demands salary improvement

SAN JUAN – The president of the Puerto Rico Teachers Association (AMPR), Elba Aponte Santos, asked on Friday the person who is favored in the next elections to improve the salary of teachers.

“It is time for them to recognize our effort and dedication. A fair salary is meritorious so that the work that we do every day is valued more, which, on multiple occasions, has consequences for many colleagues who end up with work stress and physical and mental exhaustion, ”said Aponte Santos in written statements.

“Most people are unaware of the different roles that teachers perform on a daily basis. The educator’s duty is not just to teach. Today all their tasks that go beyond teaching are unknown, “he added.

Aponte Santos understands that teachers are an essential resource and have a great responsibility, so it is fair and necessary that they be done labor justice.

The basic salary for a teacher is $ 1,750 per month.
