San Juan – The secretary of the Department of the Family (DF), Orlando López Belmonte, together with the Interim Administrator of the Administration for the Support of Minors (ASUME), Stephanie García Vidal, announced on Tuesday that the new alternative for the payment of alimony through all the automatic teller machines located in the branches of Banco Popular de Puerto Rico.
“ASUME’s priority is to provide the participants with services in the most agile and efficient way possible. This initiative will allow citizens who, due to the nature of their jobs and responsibilities, are unable to go to branches during the regular period of operations, can deposit payments through the ATM terminals available in these facilities, “he said. López Belmonte in written communication.
For her part, attorney García Vidal stated how easy it is to register to access the new payment alternative by calling Telepago Popular at (787) -724-3652, or at 1-888-724-3652.
At the time of making the payment through the cashier, the obligor must enter the participant number, the case number and the Social Security number.
As of December, ASUME handles 198,335 active cases of child support with a total of 415.3 million dollars disbursed during 2020 in child support assistance.
The official emphasized that, “this initiative joins other implemented projects, such as improvements to the application, and the Personalized Services Platform, which allow participants to complete all forms electronically, make payments, see the steps taken in your case, in addition to communicating via message with the assigned specialist ”.
García Vidal explained that the measures increase access to services remotely for participants and contribute to more cost-effective processes, shortening the response time to requests.
