SAN JUAN – Concerned about the conditions that can lead to contagion with Covid-19 among drivers and travelers of the Regular Route and Call and Travel programs, employees of the Metropolitan Bus Authority (AMA), members of the TUAMA Union and administrators of the TUAMA-Exprésate (Facebook) platform denounced that the disinfection work of the units ceased at 4:00 in the afternoon, causing them to be in “unhealthy conditions” for the transport of passengers at the peak time of passenger transport .
“WADA contracted a private company to carry out the disinfection work. Said hiring was unnecessary since we have colleagues trained and available to perform the function. In fact, the disinfectants that are being used are owned by WADA. Also, they are property of the AMA, the electric sprinkler that is used ”, highlighted this Wednesday Lynnet Fernández, member of the TUAMA and conductor of Regular Route and Administrator of TUAMA-Exprésate.
“The AMA pays a private company to place some young people to carry out the work that belongs to the united staff and thus someone generates a profit from this management,” Fernández added in written statements.
“Now, the complaint we want to highlight is that this company ceases at 4:00 in the afternoon. Precisely at that time the peak hour of the service begins. Therefore, the transport of passengers in buses that are not disinfected is being allowed, putting users at high risk of contagion, ”said Lizbeth Cotto, member of TUAMA, conductor of the Regular Route and Administrator of TUAMA-Express yourself.
“This shouldn’t happen. The sprinkler is available (it’s from WADA) and the disinfectants. However, no action is taken on this in a clear disregard for the health of users and workers ”, concluded Cotto.
