The Puerto Rico Bar Association (CAAPR) will hold the second edition on 5K Picorelli. The race will be virtual, due to the challenge that our reality presents in times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Participants have from October 18 to 25 to complete the 5K distance, either running, jogging, walking or in a wheelchair (adapted sport). They will not only choose the day, but the route where they will carry out the race. An advantage is that being virtual, people residing outside of Puerto Rico can participate.
The 5k Picorelli is part of the work of the CAAPR Sports Commission and seeks to promote the physical and emotional health of our population, knowing that exercise is health.
“The first edition was held last year and we had 200 participants, among them high-performance athletes and adapted sports, as well as the integration of important personalities of national athletics in the different phases of the organization of the race. This year we hope to have the support of colleges and the general public locally and internationally ”, said Maribel Cordero Barreiro, president of the CAAPR Sports Commission.
Registration has a cost of $ 10 for nationals and an additional $ 5 in case of residing outside of Puerto Rico, to cover the shipment of the medal. For each registration, $ 2 will be donated to the National Association of the Blind of Puerto Rico, an entity to which the race has been dedicated this year.
Those interested can register by contacting the CAAPR at (787) 721-3358 or (787) 313-4014, visit the sports stores: Time To Run, La Meta, Elite Sports. Payment can be made through ATH Móvil (business) / ColegioAbogadosPR or in person at the school located in Miramar.
“The CAAPR supports sporting events within the organization because, in addition to helping improve health, it promotes a community goal of supporting the National Association of the Blind of Puerto Rico. Even though this year it will be virtually, we fulfill the purpose of promoting physical and mental health for all participants and supporting an institution, ”said the president of the school, Daisy Calcaño López.
After completing the race, each participant must upload their photo and that of their arrival time, to the event page created on Facebook. After the event, your medal will be sent to you.
