Call to citizens after dangerous floods in Arecibo

The mayor of Arecibo, Carlos Molina Rodríguez, made tonight a call to the residents of the city to stay in safe places then, that the rains that were reported in the northern region today caused dangerous floods through various sectors of the municipality.

“For everyone, the most important thing should be the safety and protection of their lives, so the most important thing at this time is that if your house is outside the flood areas, stay in it and do not go out until it is emergency has passed ”, expressed the mayor through written statements.

The first executive, who assured that he had already communicated with the Commissioner of the Emergency Management and Disaster Administration Bureau, Nino Correa, indicated that brigades of the Municipal Office of Emergency Management and the Municipal Police are identifying the areas most affected by flash floods.

It is important that this action be done before considering any risk, ”reiterated Molina Rodríguez, adding that he requested the assistance of the National Guard to expedite the assistance.

The municipality is already preparing the Manuel Petaca Iguina Coliseum grounds to receive families who, after calling the emergency authorities, identify themselves as residents in flooded areas or at risk of flooding.
