For this next Wednesday, August 26, the start of the regular semester of classes in the three campuses of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico was resumed, while an academic recess is announced for quarter classes also until Wednesday of this week. This was confirmed by the president of PUCPR, Dr. Jorge Iván Vélez Arocho.
“After passing through Puerto Rico, tropical storm Laura caused many Puerto Ricans to face failures with the electrical system. Thousands of people still do not have electricity service and are facing Internet connection problems. We understand the problem that this represents for our students and the Faculty, so we have decided to delay the start of the semester and an academic recess until next Wednesday, ”explained Vélez Arocho in writing.
The president clarified that the Administrative tasks at the Arecibo, Ponce and Mayagüez campuses will continue tomorrow, Monday August 24, on a regular basis
Vélez Arocho recalled that this situation will not affect the enrollment and validation process. “We will continue to address the concerns and doubts of students and parents to help them in the enrollment process that will be extended for the benefit of all. They can go to www.pucpr.edu . to attend to the registration procedures ”, he said.
