The president of the State Elections Commission (CEE), Juan Ernesto Dávila Rivera, assured today that they would be ready on Sunday for the completion of the primaries, but that due to logistical problems it would be impossible to carry them out earlier.
The official explained that “there are numerous logistical issues that would have to be addressed before completing the process, such as re-contracting the haulage, contracting the tents, chairs and tables, because we were left with the southern municipalities, where we also had generators , the coordination of private premises in the places where it was determined, the coordination with the Department of Education, and the coordination with community centers. ”
In radio statements (Radio Isla 1320 AM), Dávila said that today they will work“ with all of our being so that this can be done tomorrow, but there are some procedures and logistics realities so that what happened on Sunday is not repeated. A realistic date would be next Sunday. ”
Regarding what happened last Sunday, Dávila Rivera said that“ not all the requested ballots arrived, because the political parties failed in their calculations of ballot estimates and the process was completed late to prepare the briefcases that were to carry the electoral material throughout the island ”.
