SAN JUAN – The vice president of the State Elections Commission (CEE), Jessika Padilla Rivera said on Tuesday that they are waiting for the court to start the count for the mayor of Guánica.
“A Guánica count is pending, which depends on a court ruling and we are waiting for the court to express itself and then proceed according to what the court dictates,” Padilla Rivera said to questions from the press.
He mentioned that the presidency as well as the electoral commissioners and officials of the EEC are not in recess.
The EEC pre-certified Ismael “Titi” Rodríguez of the Popular Democratic Party (PPD), however, the court established that all votes cast by direct nomination must be counted, which could give victory to the former soldier, Edgardo Cruz Vélez.
Padilla Rivera went to La Fortaleza to officially deliver the certification of Pedro Pierluisi as governor with the signature of the electoral commissioners.
