Staggered appointments

The reopening of the CESCO will also have an extended schedule from Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. A.M at 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. at 4:00 in the afternoon. The last day that CESCOs operated due to the Covid-19 pandemic was last March 13.

“And that brings some challenges. First, because the longer you have CESCO closed, they are people who are accumulating, who are not going to be able to receive services at that moment and who when it touches, is going to touch them with others who do.

Aponte Contreras specified that there are more than 160,000 people who already require some type of CESCO service. He estimated that, each month, for license renewals there are 40,000. "We have been in March, April, May and June, the number goes from 160,000 when we start now in July without counting the others," he stressed.

To this end, he announced that the CESCO dating service will be expanded. In the past, people were provided services for driver's licenses, apprenticeship licenses and identification cards, but not everyone had to go by appointment.

“This transformation is so great that now we are going to refer to as CESCO 2.0 because it is CESCO that no one has ever seen in Puerto Rico, a transformation that in CESCO history has never occurred. Basically the operation was always the same with small changes, "said the official, noting that -for example- the CESCO Digital application has been downloaded by 400,000 people through the Android and Apple mobile platforms.
