Arecibo – Charges for mistreatment and mistreatment aggravated by Law 54 on Domestic Violence were filed against Diego L. Otero López, 52, the Police reported Tuesday.

The case was presented in the presence of Judge Michelle Camacho Nieves, of the Court of First Instance of Arecibo, who after hearing the evidence determined cause for the aforementioned crimes.

The judge imposed a global bond of 40 thousand dollars, which Otero López did not pay, being admitted to the Bayamón jail.

The preliminary hearing was scheduled for November 10.

The incident for which Otero López was accused occurred on Monday, October 26, in the Dominguito neighborhood, Parcelas Matei, in Arecibo, where he allegedly committed the aforementioned acts against his 48-year-old consensual partner.

An indictment is only an indictment and is not evidence of guilt. The accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
