Hatillo – Charges for the crime of attempted murder, weapons law, aggravated damages, assault and threat, by Law 54 Domestic Violence, were filed on Wednesday against Luis Antonio Mateo Rivera, 41, a resident of Arecibo.

According to the police investigation, on the night of September 14 in Hatillo, the accused armed with a pillory and a pneumatic pistol caused damage to the door of a residence and attacked his consensual partner. He committed the acts in front of minors.

After being arrested, Mateo Rivera was brought before the presence of Judge Michelle Camacho Nieves, of the Court of First Instance of Arecibo, who after hearing the evidence determined cause for the aforementioned crimes, setting a global bond of $ 1,400,000.

The man could not pay bail, so he was booked into the Bayamón jail. The preliminary hearing against him was scheduled for October 7, 2020.

Agent José M. Berríos Martínez of the Hatillo District, together with prosecutor Evelyn Trinidad, presented the charges against Mateo Rivera.

An indictment is only an indictment and is not evidence of guilt. The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
