Charges filed for robbery of a man in San Juan

SAN JUAN – Charges were filed against an individual who had been released due to the situation of the pandemic, for the crime of robbery in events that occurred on October 9, 2019 in Cupey.

The events occurred at the Tren Urbano station in Cupey where the individual, by means of threat and intimidation, carrying a knife, robbed a man of a computer, a cell phone and cash

The defendant identified as Jose L. Maldonado Becerril was taken to the San Juan court in the presence of Judge Jimmy Ed Sepúlveda who, after examining the evidence, determined cause in absentia for the crime of robbery and indicating a bond of 45,000 and issuing an order for arrest against him.

An indictment is only an indictment and is not evidence of guilt. The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
