The Coast Guard today established Zulu port status for all seaports in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands due to the passage of tropical storm Laura .
During said condition, ports will remain closed to all maritime traffic unless authorized by the port captain.
It was indicated in a press release that owners and operators of pleasure boats must follow the warnings of the National Meteorological Service and take the necessary measures to safeguard the safety of their vessels.
After the storm has moved away from the area, the Coast Guard port teams will assess the condition of the port facilities and waterways. Once completed, the captain of the San Juan port will reopen so that vessel traffic and operations at the port facilities return to normal.
