SAN JUAN – Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González Colón reported Monday that she received praise and recognition from Senator Marco Rubio and Congressmen Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Rob Bishop for their work and achievements on behalf of the people of Puerto Rico in Congress.
“Jenniffer González is a friend and colleague from securing federal funds for disaster relief, helping small businesses to introducing a bipartisan law to revive Puerto Rico’s pharmaceutical industry, Jenniffer González is a tireless advocate for Puerto Rico. Now that the great people of Puerto Rico are heading to the polls this November, I humbly ask you to join me and support Jenniffer, we need her more than ever in Congress, ”said Florida Senator Marco Rubio in written statements.
Marco Rubio has been a great ally of Jenniffer González and Puerto Rico in the federal Senate, supporting legislation by the commissioner in favor of the island. Even after the impact of Hurricane María, he was the first senator to arrive on the island and he remained in communication with the commissioner coordinating aid and in Congress with helping to expedite the historic allocation of federal funds for Puerto Rico, as well as his continued support. for the recovery of the Island. The senator and the commissioner work together to promote Puerto Rico to become the epicenter of manufacturing in the United States.
“I am proud to endorse Congresswoman Jenniffer González for her re-election and to stand by her side. I have seen her working hard and making a difference for the people of Puerto Rico and her leadership is unmatched. Today I support her in her continued leadership, her passion, and her commitment to creating jobs and improving the quality of life for everyone on the island of Puerto Rico. I remember traveling to Puerto Rico days after Hurricane Maria hit the island and there was so much devastation. I had the opportunity to travel with Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Jenniffer to tour the island and see Jenniffer’s leadership and commitment to achieving results up close. Jenniffer, Count on Me! ”Said Cathy McMorris Rodgers, a Washington State representative and former Speaker of the Republican Conference of the House of Representatives from 2012 to 2018.
Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers has worked closely during this four-year period with the commissioner to advance Puerto Rico’s affairs in Congress, especially after the impact of Hurricane Maria, and supports statehood for the Island.
Another strong support that González Colón received was from the former president of the Natural Resources Committee, Rob Bishop, who has visited the island since González was the leader of the Minority in the Puerto Rico House of Representatives and after Hurricane María. The congressman has been a great ally and has supported González on various issues of reconstruction, infrastructure and statehood for Puerto Rico.
“I am proud to endorse my good friend Jenniffer on her re-election. Puerto Rican voters are fortunate to be represented in Washington by a committed leader who has the respect of her colleagues and achieves the results the Island needs. As the only representative of Puerto Rico in the federal capital, Jenniffer has to do the work of 4 or 5 representatives and without counting on the collaboration of two senators from the other side of the Rotunda. Jenniffer represents not like me 700,000 people, but represents 3.2 million Puerto Ricans. I look forward to her re-election on November 3 because I know she will work hard for you as she has in her first four-year term. I’m with Jenniffer, she is a force in Washington, ”said Rob Bishop, a representative from Utah who chaired the House Committee on Natural Resources and is the current Republican leader of that committee.
Last week, the resident commissioner received the endorsement to continue representing Puerto Rico before Congress, by the national organization Winning For Women (W4W).
Winning For Women (W4W), is an organization that aims to inform the public about national security and free market policy that will benefit the lives of all Americans, organize and amplify the voices of women across the country that embrace, broadening the audience for a strong conservative message, and expanding the ability of center-right women to be successful in their pursuit of leadership opportunities, including elected office.
W4W bases its endorsement on a number of metrics, including: significant fundraising figures commensurate with the candidate’s district; an established campaign team; and a viable path to success through the primary and general elections.
This is not the first time that national organizations have recognized the work of Jenniffer González Colón on behalf of the people of Puerto Rico and in the federal capital. The congresswoman has received multiple local, national and international recognitions and is listed as the ninth best congresswoman who works outside party lines.
