
The report of the Department of Health reported four deaths from COVID-19 ; Meanwhile, 240 confirmed cases and 321 additional probable cases were registered.
Of the reported deaths, three were classified as confirmed and are broken down below:
59-year-old man from the Metro region
85-year-old woman from the Bayamón region
70-year-old woman from the Metro region
In addition, a probable death was reported corresponding to an 85-year-old man from the Arecibo region.
With the reported fatalities, the confirmed deaths total 283 and the probable deaths are 145, therefore, the total of deaths is 428. It is important to remember that any death recorded after the report is issued will be reflected in subsequent reports.
The change in the number of deaths should not be interpreted as having occurred in the last 24 hours. In the same way, it is important to point out that the death report may vary, to the extent that the processes of registration and codification of the causes of death take place, which could take several days.
On the other hand, the total of the results of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 14,986, of which 7,877 are women and 7,109 are men. The total was adjusted after adding 20 cases with a sampling date from July 22 to August 13. The reported cases are those that have a positive PCR test, with a sample collection date of August 18 to 26.
As part of the report, 321 additional probable cases were registered, with a sample collection date that includes 14 to August 26. In this line, the total is 17,564, after being adjusted, by subtracting 37 cases that had a positive molecular test, later, and were added to the cases registered as part of this report. On the other hand, 18 cases were added with a sample collection date from June 27 to August 13. Probable cases are divided into 9,659 women and 7,905 men.
The adjustments in totals are made as part of an effort by the Department of Health, entities and clinical laboratories, to ensure that all samples performed for COVID-19 are registered in the Bio Portal, regardless of the date it was taken.
