The Secretary of Correction and Rehabilitation, Eduardo Rivera Juanatey, reacted to the request made by Representative Jesú Manuel Ortiz for a hundred merit promotions that were granted at the edge of the electoral ban to be investigated.
“All promotions have been made in accordance with the law and the regulations established for it in the DCR. The need for supervisory personnel is decreed based on the requests established by the Auxiliary Secretary of Security,” the secretary said in written statements.
“The DCR operates through a Rank System to which the electoral ban does not apply.. The promotions granted come to meet those supervision needs that we have in correctional institutions, where they lacked the necessary rank to command each one of them and at the same time meet the need for supervision 24 hours a day, 7 days a week “, added.
Ortiz had addressed a letter to the executive director of the Fiscal Control Board, Natalie Jaresko, pointing out that she was concerned about personnel changes, ignoring the criteria and merits that were evaluated before, and the economic burden that this could represent in times of crisis fiscal.
