COVID-19 in Puerto Rico: 879 new confirmed cases and 4 deaths

Today’s Department of Health report reported 4 deaths from COVID-19; meanwhile, 879 confirmed cases, 218 probable cases and 509 additional suspected cases were registered.

Confirmed cases are determined in this way by having taken the sample with a molecular test, the probable ones are taken with an antigen test and the suspects with a rapid or serological test.

The four deaths were broken down by Health as follows:

A 67-year-old woman from the Arecibo region.

An 86-year-old man from the Mayagüez region

A 56-year-old man from the Aguadilla region

A 52-year-old man from the Bayamón region

The four deaths were registered in the month of January.

With these, there are already 1,592 total deaths from COVID-19 confirmed in Puerto Rico. While the total accumulated confirmed cases increased to 76,726.

In the total sum of confirmed, probable and suspected cases, women have had a total of 76,466 positives and men 63,369 positives.

The number of hospitalizations increased slightly compared to yesterday and there are now 414 people admitted for the virus in hospital institutions.

76 adults are in intensive care for coronavirus while 3 minors are in intensive pediatric.
