The Health Department report today reported two deaths from COVID-19; meanwhile, 514 confirmed cases and 343 additional probable cases were registered.
The two deaths were classified as confirmed and correspond to two men, aged 84 and 79, from the Arecibo and Metro regions, respectively.
With these additional deaths, the confirmed deaths add up to 473 and the probable ones are 171, so the total number of deaths is 644. It is important to remember that any death registered after the report is issued will be reflected in subsequent reports.
The change in the number of deaths should not be interpreted as having occurred in the last 24 hours. Likewise, it is important to note that the death report may vary, as the processes of registration and codification of causes of death occur, which could take several days.
On the other hand, the total of the results of confirmed cases of COVID-19 is 22,697, of which 12,150 are women and 10,547 are men. The total was adjusted after adding 23 cases with a sample collection date from May 19 to September 8; in addition, four duplicate cases were subtracted. The reported cases are those that have a positive PCR test, with a sample collection date of September 14 to 24.
As part of the report, 343 additional probable cases were registered, with a sampling date that ranges from September 14 to 24. In this line, the total is 23,607 after being adjusted, by subtracting 63 cases that had a positive molecular test, later, and were added to the cases registered as part of this report; In addition, five duplicate cases were subtracted and 83 cases were added with a sample collection date from May 1 to September 12. Probable cases are divided into 13,125 women and 10,482 men.
The adjustments in totals are made as part of an effort by the Department of Health, entities and clinical laboratories, to ensure that any sample made for COVID-19 is registered in the Bio Portal, regardless of the date it was taken.
