Covid-19: Seven deaths and 592 additional cases on the Island | government


The Department of Health reported in its daily report seven additional deaths from Covid-19, as well as 592 new cases between confirmed and probable.

The deaths are broken down below:

  • 93-year-old man from the Ponce region
  • 74-year-old man from the Caguas region
  • 82-year-old man from the Caguas region
  • 58-year-old woman from the Metro region
  • 87-year-old man from the Metro region
  • 67-year-old man from the Metro region
  • 78-year-old man from the Arecibo region

With these deaths, the death toll from Covid-19 since the pandemic began in March now stands at 1,801, of which 1,516 have been confirmed. The new deaths occurred between January 1 and 27.

On the other hand, Salud reported 259 additional confirmed cases, bringing the total to 85,954. The cumulative total of confirmed cases was adjusted. Two cases were added on January 11. On the other hand, a duplicate case was subtracted. Confirmed cases are those with a positive molecular test (RT-PCR).

The total of probable cases now rises to 6,587 after adding 72 infections. The running total was adjusted. 36 cases were subtracted that had a positive molecular test later. Additionally, a case was added on January 11. Probable cases are cases with a positive antigen test.

Meanwhile, the number of suspected cases now totals 67,126 after adding an additional 261. The cumulative total of suspected cases was adjusted. 35 cases that subsequently had a positive molecular test were subtracted. Additionally, 29 cases were added prior to January 12.

Meanwhile, the number of hospitalized continues to decline after the Department of Health reported 293.
