Department of Health reports 24 deaths from Covid-19 | government


The Department of Health report reported 24 deaths from Covid-19. Meanwhile, 109 cases were registered, between confirmed and probable.

Of the reported deaths, 19 were classified as confirmed and are listed below:

  • 80-year-old man from the Mayagüez region
  • 86-year-old woman from the Mayagüez region
  • 75-year-old man from the Arecibo region
  • 72-year-old woman from the Metro region
  • 82-year-old woman from the Bayamón region
  • 58-year-old man from the Metro region
  • 77-year-old man from the Metro region
  • 46-year-old man from the Metro region
  • 82-year-old woman from the Metro region
  • 67-year-old man from the Arecibo region
  • 51-year-old man from the Bayamón region
  • 69-year-old man from the Caguas region
  • 78-year-old woman from the Mayagüez region
  • 57-year-old man from the Bayamón region
  • 81-year-old man from the Arecibo region
  • 79-year-old man from the Bayamón region
  • 78-year-old woman from the Bayamón region
  • 80-year-old man from the Bayamón region
  • 68-year-old woman from the Bayamón region

In addition, five deaths cataloged as probable were recorded, which are broken down below:

  • 75-year-old man from the Metro region
  • 90-year-old man from the Bayamón region
  • 72-year-old man from the Bayamón region
  • 49-year-old woman from the Metro region
  • 62-year-old man from the Ponce region

With these additional deaths, the confirmed deaths add up to 1,228 and the probable deaths are 256, so the total number of deaths is 1,484.

Salud reiterates that the change in the number of deaths should not be interpreted as having occurred in the last 24 hours. According to the daily report, one of these deaths occurred in October, nine occurred in November, and the other 14 occurred in December.

On the other hand, the total of the results of confirmed cases of Covid-19 is 71,342, of which 38,429 are women and 32,913 are men. The cases reported are those that have a positive PCR test, with a sample collection date of December 14 to 28. The total was adjusted after adding 14 cases with sampling dates from December 1 to 13.

The report includes the results of antigen tests, which the CDC lists as probable cases. The total positive results in these tests is 4,546, which was adjusted after subtracting eight cases that had a positive molecular test later and were added to the confirmed cases reported in this report.

In addition, a case was added with a sampling date of December 9. The additional probable cases reported are 25, which include samples taken from December 14 to 28. The distribution by gender is 2,508 women and 2,038 men.

As part of the report, 18 additional suspected cases were registered, with a sampling date that ranges from December 14 to 28. These cases, by definition, are those that have a positive serological test.

In this row, the total is 55,473 after being adjusted, by subtracting two cases that had a positive molecular test and were added to the confirmed cases registered as part of this report. The suspected cases are divided into 31,018 women and 24,455 men.
