SAN JUAN – The Department of Health reported nine deaths from COVID-19 on Wednesday, along with an additional 18 confirmed and 12 probable cases.
Of the reported deaths, seven were listed as confirmed as follows:
- 62-year-old man from the Metro region
- 76-year-old woman from the Metro region
- 57-year-old woman from the Metro region
- 79-year-old woman from the Bayamón region
- 82-year-old man from the Metro region
- 54-year-old woman from the Metro region
- 86-year -old man from the Aguadilla region
Additionally, two probable deaths were reported:
- 86-year-old woman from the Metro region
- 71-year-old man from the Metro region
With the fatalities reported, the confirmed deaths total 263 and the probable deaths 141; Therefore, the total number of deaths is 404.
“The change in the number of deaths should not be interpreted as having occurred in the last 24 hours. In the same way, it is important to point out that the deaths report may vary, to the extent that the processes of registration and coding of the causes of death occur, which could take several days, ”the department stressed in its daily briefing.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 14,010, of which 7,358 are women and 6,652 are men. Those cases were confirmed by PCR, or diagnostic tests, whose samples were collected Aug. 18 to 21.
“As part of the report, 12 additional probable cases were registered, with a sampling date that includes August 16-23. In this line, the total is 16,734, after being adjusted, by subtracting four cases that had a positive molecular test and were later added to the cases registered as part of this report. On the other hand, three cases with sampling dates of May 13, July 29 and August 13, respectively, were subtracted. Probable cases are divided into 9,222 women and 7,512 men, ”the department said.
