DTOP launches the Transparent Ticket System | government

As part of the efforts to continue putting technology at the service of the citizenry, the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTOP) launched the Transparent Ticket System (Strab), with which the cases in which a citizen was going to renew will be left behind his license or tag and was surprised that he had tickets that did not correspond to him.

Also in cases in which the tickets were correct, but the delay in entering the tickets into the system did not allow the citizen to benefit from a discount payment, as stipulated by law when they are paid in the first 15 or 30 days after they are received. the fine.

The Strab not only benefits the thousands of drivers who are active in Puerto Rico, but also the Police officers and even the environment.

As explained by the DTOP secretary, Carlos Contreras Aponte, “with the STRAB a portable terminal is being delivered to the Police Traffic officers that immediately replaces the triple-page notebooks that have been printed for decades, dramatically reducing the use of paper”.

“With this device the officer scans the driver’s license, either the physical or the virtual one in the Cesco Digital application, as well as the vehicle license plate. This minimizes physical contact and practically eliminates errors when entering citizen and vehicle information on the ticket ”, explained the official.

He added that “once the official issues the ticket on the device, the information goes directly to Cesco Digital’s system. Therefore, from that moment the driver receives the ticket in the application of his cell phone, which allows him to review it and / or pay for it without having to physically go to a Cesco or a collection office of the Department of the Treasury. In this way, you will have the option of benefiting from the 30% discount that applies when tickets are paid in the first 15 days from their issuance, or 15% discount if you pay between the 16th and 30th. “

“Finally, and not least, the citizen will have in his Cesco Digital the evidence that he paid for that ticket, so he will not go through the bad experience of being charged again, because the physical payment receipt has been lost” added the secretary.

Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner, Henry Escalera, explained that “there are many benefits for our agents. First, it will considerably reduce the time it takes for each intervention, since they will not have to handle paper notebooks or write by hand. Similarly, the entire intervention can be done while maintaining physical distancing. In addition, it will guarantee greater precision in the data ”.

Escalera also highlighted that “with the Strab, less time will be spent on interventions and ticket processing at the end of each day, so our agents will be able to spend more time on the street serving the people.”

Contreras Aponte reported that the Police Traffic officers have already begun to receive their training for the management of Strab units. They are training in groups of 30 per day and it is expected to have 100% of the more than 400 agents in this division in the coming weeks.
