The pre-candidate for governor of the Popular Democratic Party (PPD) Eduardo Bhatia assured today that he would not repeal the law that established schools charter in case of becoming the next governor of the country.
The Law of the Educational Reform – Law 85 of 2018 – authorized that nonprofit organizations or universities could administer public schools in the country. Despite the rejection of the teachers and school communities to this law, the also popular senator indicated that the Educational Reform – promoted by the resigning Governor Ricardo Rosselló and the former Secretary of Education Julia Keleher – has positive aspects that justify said regulation. "What is in that law that causes some discomfort? Well, that part is repealed, but there are many elements of alliance that are important for Puerto Rico to see," Bhatia said during a debate on Telemundo among the candidates for governor for the PPD.
