San Juan – The interim governor Raúl Márquez Hernández withdrew on Monday the appointment of Eduardo Rivera Juanatey as superior judge, as it transpired.
Rivera Juanatey serves as secretary of the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation.
Last week, Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced submitted an executive order to amend the sixth Extraordinary Session where she placed that appointment.
During the day, the majority of the New Progressive Party (PNP) had advanced that the official did not have the votes to be confirmed.
In addition, it was learned that the nomination of the Secretary of Public Affairs of La Fortaleza, Osvaldo Soto García, was confirmed as associate commissioner of the Telecommunications Bureau.
In this case, Soto García received a nomination to be the comptroller of Puerto Rico, but the governor withdrew that request when members of the Majority in the House of Representatives stated that the nominee did not have the votes for his confirmation.
Vázquez Garced in the executive order that amended the extraordinary session, placed Soto García to that position in the Telecommunications Bureau.
In addition, the appointment of the mayor of Ceiba, Angelo Cruz Ramos, as associate member of the Auction Board of the General Services Administration (ASG) and 11 other appointments to different positions was withdrawn.
