NAGUABO– The elected mayor of the municipality of Naguabo by the Popular Democratic Party (PPD), Miraidaliz Rosario Pagán, demanded on Thursday the outgoing mayor, Noé Marcano Rivera, to comply with the Municipal Transition Law in Naguabo.

“Yesterday afternoon the first transition meeting would be held and we were surprised by the transition president and finance director of the municipality, Luis Cruz Gerena that they were not ready to begin the transition or to deliver the report”, the elected mayor said in written communication.

He explained that the request was made by means of a letter in which he listed the legal terms to comply with the delivery time of documents required for the process that should have started on the fifteenth day after the general election.

On the other hand, he reminded them that non-compliance with the mandate of the law has serious legal consequences for those officials who violate the Municipal Code of Puerto Rico.

“As the elected mayor of the Municipality of Naguabo and on behalf of each Naguabeño, she requested that the provisions in Law be complied with and that the request be sent to us. We sincerely hope that our citizens of Naguabo do not fail again in this important task at the end of their term, “he concluded.
