An electrical failure produced at the Limón 1 pump station caused the interruption of the drinking water service in the Limón neighborhood, in Mayagüez.
The director of the Aqueducts and Sewers Authority (AAA) in the Mayagüez area , Luis Cabán Medina, informed that the station is out of operation and that, as a result, the subscribers residing in the Los Aleluya, Cambalache, part of Juan Alonso and Cerro Las Mesas sectors have interrupted the service.
The official explained that the interruption occurs due to the lack of service of the Electric Power Authority (PREPA) in the first pumping station of Limón, and due to a mechanical failure in the power generator of the facility.
Agency brigades and PREPA are working to restore operation. Once the service has been restored, it is recommended to boil the water for at least three minutes due to the possibility of turbidity.
