Fajardo municipal employee dies of COVID-19

An employee from the municipality of Fajardo who had tested positive for COVID-19 died in a town hospital, the mayor José Aníbal “Joey” Meléndez Méndez reported today.

Meléndez Méndez reported that, as soon as he had knowledge of the positives, the Mayor's Office and the Municipal Recycling and Public Works Departments closed. The units are being disinfected before reopening their regular services.

Likewise, the Municipal Project for Case Investigation and Contact Tracking, assigned to the Health Department, which has the services of the epidemiologist Manuel Laboy, was activated. This group is monitoring each case to provide assistance to family members and people who have had contact with the positive cases.

Likewise, the mayor said that he ordered to carry out the test COVID-19 to all employees of the Recycling, Public Works and Human Resources Departments .
