PONCEThis academic semester the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico (PUCPR) will be distributing over $ 6.3 million in supplementary aid to its students so that they can face the expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“All students with active enrollment as of February 21 will receive this aid. It is not necessary to request it, since it will arrive automatically. These funds come from an allocation from the Federal Department of Education through the stimulus program that complements those allocated under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) “ indicated the Vice President of Finance and Administration of PUCPR, Lcdo. José Frontera Agenjo. As he explained, “Undergraduate students would be receiving between $ 550 and $ 875. Graduate students will receive between $ 575 and $ 895, and those enrolled in Law School between $ 595 and $ 915. The determining criteria for the allocation of funds are program / cost of studies and the level of EFC of financial aid ”.

This aid is in addition to other institutional efforts that PUCPR is carrying out to facilitate the continuity of their studies for students, despite the pandemic. “The Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico continues its step to strengthen its technological infrastructure and provide technological resources to students. Among these efforts is the availability, free of charge, of tablets with internet connection for students who do not have this service. Our interest is that each student has uninterrupted access to their education, so we have spared no effort or resources to support them. These kits will be made available to qualified students on loan. This is an effort that we have been working on since last semester ”stressed Frontera Agenjo. Any student from the Ponce, Mayagüez and Arecibo campuses of PUCPR who faces problems with an Internet connection or needs tablets with data, can contact the Dean of Student Affairs of their campus.

“This semester we once again support students with this great technological effort. We currently have 700 tablets available to ensure that our students have the tools to continue their studies ”, reaffirmed the vice president.

Last semester the University delivered 1,300 tablets with data service included to those students who did not have this type of device to connect to their classes. Likewise, 500 laptops were distributed to the teachers of the three campuses so that they could use them from their offices and classrooms.

The lawyer José Frontera Agenjo recalled “the enrollment process remains available until January 29, 2020. Currently, the La Católica team offers remote support through individualized rooms to help students in the enrollment process. You can access www.pucpr.edu/vm to participate live in the virtual rooms or write to [email protected] Likewise, future Pioneers will be able to achieve their academic goals and be admitted and enrolled in La Católica without having taken the College Board ”, he emphasized.
