First numbers in Ponce reflect advantage of the PPD in the mayor’s office


The State Elections Commission (CEE) offered on Tuesday the first numbers related to the Ponce mayoral race.

According to the EEC, with a low percentage of votes counted, Dr. Luis Irizarry Pabón, from the Popular Democratic Party (PPD), maintains an advantage of 863 votes, for 52.72 percent.

The incumbent María “Mayita” Meléndez of the New Progressive Party (PNP) has about 664 votes for 40.56 percent.

Likewise, Dr. José Víctor Madera of the Puerto Rican Independence Party (PIP) has 61 votes and Ramón Rodríguez Ramos of the Citizen Victory Movement (MVC) has 49 votes.

The percent of votes counted amounts to 9.8 percent with 19 of 207 schools counted.
