Fura intercepts a boat carrying 11 people

WATERY – The FURA Maritime Unit of the Police intervened at around 4:35 a.m. on Wednesday with a boat in which 11 people were traveling, including a woman, with an undefined immigration status, who were trying to arrive on the island of illegal way.

The group was intercepted about two nautical miles from the coast, in front of the Parcelas Nieves de Aguada, police reported.

The boat is about 26 feet long, blue and orange in color. It had a 40 HP Yamaha outboard motor.

The intervention was carried out in the middle of a preventive maritime patrol, being detected by the agents. The yola was devoid of navigation lights.

The occupants were handed over to the Costanera Guard personnel, who took charge of both the group and the boat.
