Governor decrees three days of mourning for the murder of a policeman on Friday in Ponce

STRENGTH – Governor Pedro Pierluisi decreed this Monday three days of mourning in memory of agent Erasmo García Torres, attached to the Ponce Motorized Unit and who was assassinated on Friday, June 11, in the line of duty.

The flags of all public buildings will remain at half mast for three days from this Monday, June 14 until sunset on Wednesday, June 16.

“My condolences to the entire family of this Puerto Rican hero, who for 28 years protected the lives of all of us in Puerto Rico and made the greatest sacrifice of giving his life. I deeply regret the pain of the family, loved ones and fellow police officers of Agent Erasmo García, for this terrible loss that we all feel. Our people join his family in prayer and solidarity, we trust that God will fill them with strength and consolation in the face of the pain they suffer, ”said the Governor in a written communication.

“To our Police, I reiterate my unconditional support and I thank them for their agile and effective work that led to the prompt arrest of the suspect in this vile murder. Together we will continue working for a Puerto Rico in which we promote respect for life and human dignity ”, added the president.

The acts of remembrance of the agent Erasmo García Torres will take place this Monday, in his hometown of Villalba.
