Health Department continues with tests on tolls | government

The Department of Health continues the Covid-Express route, administering antigen tests to detect Covid-19, through the tolls of Puerto Rico.

Next Sunday, the route will impact the Salinas and Arecibo tolls, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm

“In the impact we made last Sunday at the Buchanan tollbooth, we managed to do more than 2,000 antigen tests and we detected 96 positives. Once these cases were notified, that same day, we began the investigations of cases and the corresponding contact tracing, immediately. This means that we were able to stop the chain of infections in people who, for the most part, did not present symptoms and did not think they had Covid-19, ”explained the Secretary of the Department of Health, Lorenzo González Feliciano.

This weekend, the population will be able to perform antigen tests at the Salinas Weighing Plaza, on the Luis A. Ferré Express, in the direction of San Juan to Salinas. A second station to carry out free tests is the Arecibo Toll Plaza, on the De Diego Express, in the direction of Arecibo to San Juan. All people who are in line at closing time -1:00 pm- will be given the antigen test.

“At both stations, experts from the Department of Health, epidemiologists and nurses will be administering the tests and guiding the population. Our goal is to continue impacting, administering tests and targeting citizens to stop the chain of infections in Puerto Rico. We are already in the Christmas season and we have to raise awareness to prevent the festivities from turning into misfortunes later, ”said González Feliciano.

In addition to the effort on Sunday, tomorrow Saturday, the Municipal System for Case Investigation and Contact Tracing (SMIRC) will administer antigen tests at the Campo Rico Complex, in Canóvanas. They will be available to the entire population, free of cost from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
