Health reports 7 deaths and 479 confirmed cases


The Department of Health reported on Saturday, January 9, seven confirmed deaths from COVID-19, as indicated in its report that it issues daily.

The agency noted that 20 additional deaths were added from the months of October, November and December that had not been previously reported.

In addition, 479 new confirmed cases of coronavirus were registered by positive molecular tests (RT-PCR). The total of confirmed cases totals 77,280. Similarly, 78 new probable cases detected through antigen tests were reported. The total of probable cases increased to 5,350.

Likewise, 454 new suspected cases were reported, these due to positive serological tests. The total of suspected cases increased to 58,144.

According to the report, regarding positive cases by region, the metropolitan area, followed by Bayamón, report the highest percentages, followed by Caguas, Mayagüez, Arecibo, Ponce and Fajardo. According to the distribution, 77,002 cases, or 54.7%, are female and 63,772 (45.3%) are male.
