Health reports eight deaths from coronavirus


The Department of Health today reported eight deaths from coronavirus, 452 confirmed cases and 234 probable additional.

From the eight deaths, seven were cataloged as confirmed . These correspond to a 59-year-old woman from the Caguas region, an 84-year-old woman from the Arecibo region, an 84-year-old woman from the metropolitan region, a 64-year-old man from the metropolitan region, a 60-year-old man from the Arecibo region, a 65-year-old man from the Bayamón region and a 55-year-old woman from the Bayamón region.

The other death was recorded as probable and corresponds to a 95-year-old woman from the region of Bayamón.

With these fatalities, the total deaths from coronavirus increased to 412 and they are divided into 270 confirmed and 142 probable.

On the other hand, the total of the results of confirmed cases is 14,469 of which 7,610 are women and 6,859 are men. The total was adjusted after subtracting one duplicate case and adding eight cases with sampling dates from April 29 to August 6. The reported cases are those that have a positive PCR test, with a sample collection date of August 14 to 24.

Meanwhile, the 234 additional probable cases have a sample collection date that includes August 14 to 24. In this row, the total is 16,914 after subtracting 63 cases that had a positive molecular test later and were added to this report. On the other hand, a duplicate case was subtracted and 10 cases were added with sampling dates from June 21 to August 11. Probable cases are divided into 9,326 women and 7,588 men.

The Health dashboard indicates that 403 people are hospitalized for coronavirus on the Island. The figure was yesterday at 397 .
