Likewise, from a review of the virtual Health tool, identified as the “dashboard”, it appears that there are currently 415 people hospitalized for coronavirus , an increase of 40 compared to yesterday . It is also the highest reported number. Furthermore, exactly one month ago, on June 22, there were only 70 hospitalized for the disease.
Among the fatalities reported today, three are listed as confirmed. They correspond to two men, 87 and 60 years old, from the regions of Mayagüez and Caguas, respectively; and a 68-year-old woman from the Ponce region. In addition, there were two probable deaths, corresponding to two women, aged 70 and 77, both from the metro region.
With the additional fatalities, the total confirmed deaths are 84 and the probable ones add up to 101, therefore, the total of deaths is 185. It is important to remember that any death recorded after the report is issued will be reflected in subsequent reports.
The change in the number of deaths should not be interpreted as having occurred in the last 24 hours. Likewise, it is important to note that the reporting of deaths may vary, to the extent that the processes of registration and codification of the causes of death occur, which could take several days.
On the other hand, the total of the results of confirmed cases of COVID-19 is 4,330, which was adjusted by subtracting two duplicate cases with a sampling date of April 16 and July 9. Of this total, 2,201 are women and 2,129 men. The reported cases are those that have a positive PCR test, with a sample collection date of July 13 to 18.
On the other hand, 28 additional probable cases were registered, with a sample collection date from 15 to July 19, 2020. In this line, the total is 8,708, after being adjusted, by subtracting four cases that had a positive molecular test, subsequently, and added to the cases registered as part of this report. Similarly, a duplicate case with a sample collection date of July 10 was subtracted. The probable cases are divided into 4,724 women and 3,984 men.
The adjustments in totals are made as part of an effort by the Department of Health, entities and clinical laboratories to ensure that all samples taken for COVID-19 are recorded in the Bio Portal, regardless of the date it was taken.
