Health reports nine additional deaths from COVID-19


The Health Department reported today, Christmas Day, nine deaths by COVID-19, 407 confirmed cases, 102 probable cases and 192 suspected cases additional.

Of the reported deaths, eight were listed as confirmed and they are broken down below:

  • 58-year-old woman from the Bayamón region
  • 55-year-old man from the Arecibo region
  • 57-year-old woman from the Metro region
  • 86-year-old woman from the Bayamón region
  • 70-year-old man from the Caguas region
  • 76-year-old woman from the Aguadilla region
  • 80-year-old man from the Bayamón region
  • 70-year-old man from the Metro region

In addition, it was recorded a probable death corresponding to a 73-year-old woman from the Bayamón region.

With these additional deaths, the confirmed deaths total 1,187 and the probable 245, so the total deaths is 1,432.

On the other hand, the total confirmed case results is 67,426, of which 36,295 are women and 31,131 are men. The reported cases are those that have a positive PCR test, with sampling date from December 9 to 23. The total was adjusted after adding 152 cases with sampling dates from August 24 to December 8. In addition, four duplicate cases were subtracted.

The report includes the results of the antigen testing, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the United States classify as probable cases. He total positive results in these tests is 3,998, which was adjusted after subtracting 43 cases that subsequently had a positive molecular test and were added to the confirmed cases reported in this report. In addition, two cases were added with a sampling date of December 4 and 7, respectively. The additional probable cases reported are 102, which include samples taken from December 9 to 23. The gender distribution is 2,219 women and 1,779 men.

As part of the report, 192 suspected cases additional, with sampling date that includes December 9-23. These cases, by definition, are those that have a positive serological test. In this line, the total is 51,457 after subtracting 62 cases that had a positive molecular test and one case that had a positive antigen test, and were added to the confirmed and probable cases, respectively, registered as part of this report. On the other hand, 127 cases were added with sampling dates registered between September 9 and December 3. In addition, eight duplicate cases were subtracted. Suspected cases are divided into 28,849 women and 22,608 men.

He dashboard Health adds that due to coronavirus there is 475 hospitalized people and 60,901 convalescent.
