Health reports the death of 14 people from COVID-19 and 530 new cases


The Department of Health reported on Sunday morning that another 14 people died on the island due to COVID-19. This brings to 1,630 the total deaths in Puerto Rico since the pandemic began.

The number of additional deaths should not be interpreted as having occurred in the last 24 hours. Likewise, it is important to note that the total number of deaths may vary as the processes of registration and codification of the causes of death take place, which can take several days.

The cumulative total of deaths can be adjusted according to the protocol established by the Department of Health, in accordance with the guidelines established by CDC / NCHS and the vital statistics criteria of a death associated with COVID-19, for the review of the deaths associated with COVID-19.

Regarding new cases of the disease, Health revealed that there are 196 confirmed cases, for a total of 77,630 since the pandemic began; 152 probable cases, for a cumulative of 5,489; and 182 suspected cases, for a total of 58,777.

When adding all these cases, Puerto Rico has 141,896 sick since the beginning of the pandemic.
